REVIEW: Marshy [SPITFIRE] [PT.2]

Marshy out of Walsall gives JDZmedia his Spitfire Part 2. The YoungGuvament artist has recently had a lot of hype on his name caused by disputes with other artists in the Midlands grime scene, Izzie Gibbs and Mez to name a few. However Marshy has steered clear of the hype to focus on his career and I don't blame him.

In terms of his Spitfire I don't believe Marshy really did himself justice and he has proven to be a lot stronger than as shown in this video. He gives an above average performance but it's not one that stands out from the crowd like he has done in previous videos. The lyrics and flow work well with the beat but as said there is just something lacking there for me and I can't quite put my finger on what it is. It may have just been an off day for Marshy or possibly he may have lost his touch however I still believe he has it in him to make a top notch artist one day and he has to just keep working at what he's doing.

Marshy as an artist has worked hard to gain his position as a respected emcee in the Midlands grime scene and has a mixtape out now called Marshy's Madness available for free download here.

REVIEW: Brotherhood ft. Maxsta | Alone With My Thoughts

The Brotherhood team up with Maxsta once again for a more mellow track then the previous collaboration Make It To The Top however the balance still works with the three individuals involved being highly talented and holding experience within the grime community.

The Brotherhood consistently provide strong and unique music this being no exception. The work rate of the Brotherhood can not be knocked with content being pumped out on auto with the future being so healthy for them. Menace particularly stands out to me as a very strong lyricist on this track and certainly someone who has mastered his flow, Blaze holds it up well and always seems to come with a different stance to other artists and Maxsta just tops off the combo with his eloquent flow which seems to be almost flawless.

The Love Life Hate The World mixtape is coming soon and I personally will be getting hold of it to witness the progress made by the pair in such a short space of time. They are talented individuals and deserve all the acclaim they get from the hard work they have put in.

REVIEW: CASisDEAD - Play [Faze Miyake Remix]

Cas brings forth a collaboration with Faze Miyake to the table called Play. The original track features along with the remix on his new mixtape "The Number 23" as well as the original track featuring on the LOTM5 DVD which was released earlier this month. The concept of the track is extremely gritty as is Cas' nature portrayed through prior tracks such as "You Might Be Scared" which highlight the unspoken truths of society.

The track shows elements of lyrical prowess combined with comical yet factual rhymes such as "And the other stuff... the same colour as Elton's c*ck" and "I've had food since MS-DOS". The remix from Faze Miyake levels with the original in my opinion with the beat giving a similar mysterious stance which fits Cas' persona.

The release of Cas' new mixtape will surely gain him the much needed exposure he needs to expand as an artist. He has established his name within the scene however he is not widely known as he should be as a unique musician bringing a fresh take to the grime community.

REVIEW: Realz ft Kay Wills | "Far Away" - [Live Performance]: SBTV

Realz has been on the come up since he was fifteen as stated in the video. Realz was formally known as Realist from East London. Realz recently featured on LOTM5 (Lord of the Mics 5) which seems to have triggered his ambitions and exposure to the grime community.

In this video Realz takes us on a journey through the hard times in his life and dedicates this performance to those who have lost someone in the world. This emotion plagued performance includes his prior aspirations before music, the loss of his brother and a general struggle in his lifetime which he has overcome with music. Lyrically Realz is undeniably talented with strong wordplay and heart felt lyrics allowing him to connect to his audience. Realz is certainly someone to look out for in 2014 with a future release entitled 'What's Real' coming shortly.

The chorus in this performance by Kay Wills fits the beat and meaning of the song giving it that real and gritty edge to it which he delivers well. The pair in my eyes bounce off each other to make this performance really hard hitting and showing viewers that there is a message or morale to the story they are painting through lyrics.
